La investigación científica que se desarrolla en CITEDI se agrupa en torno a tres líneas de investigación principales, también conocidas como líneas de generación y aplicación del conocimiento (LGAC). LGAC en sistemas dinámicos y control en tecnologías emergentes

El grupo investiga metodologías y diseños de controladores robustos basados en H-infinito no lineal y estructura variable, para casos en los que el modelo no es conocido o cuando es obligatorio considerar la dinámica de los actuadores. Las aplicaciones se encuentran en péndulos invertidos, vehículos aéreos y espaciales y en general en sistemas mecánicos.

También se estudian las técnicas de control inteligente basadas en lógica difusa tipo 2 y similares, con aplicaciones a la planeación segura y eficiente de trayectorias de robots móviles, y al diseño de controladores de sistemas electromecánicos.

Adicionalmente, se lleva a cabo investigación científica básica en el análisis modelos dinámicos de crecimiento tumoral, con la finalidad de determinar las condiciones que conducen a su eliminación.

Infraestructura y equipamiento más importantes

Los laboratorios asociados a esta LGAC son:

Sistemas de Control. Cuenta con equipo para realizar pruebas de concepto de control de sistema mecatrónicos y desarrollo de proyectos en el área de ciencia básica.

Control Robusto. El laboratorio está compuesto de equipamiento moderno de adquisición de datos y plantas que pueden emular el comportamiento de cualquier sistema físico real. Los beneficios del laboratorio son: validación de nuevas teorías en sistemas de control. Hacer pruebas en campo con equipo robusto como vehículos o grúas.

Entre ambos laboratorios se cuenta con 15 posiciones de trabajo. Entre el equipo más notable se tiene:

  • Robot manipulador de cinco grados de libertad.
  • Robot manipulador de dos grados de libertad.
  • Péndulo de Furuta con su sistema de control.
  • Sistema de control de control de convertidor potencia.
  • Vehículo aéreo de 4 propelas Q-ball 2 con sistema de control asistido por visión.
  • Vehículo autónomo escala 1:10 Miny versión 4.0

LGAC en cómputo inteligente de alto rendimiento

El trabajo de investigación de la LGAC se concentra principalmente en las áreas de control inteligente, sistemas inteligentes cuánticos y procesamiento cuántico de señales, planeación de trayectoria, automóviles autónomos, y sistemas farmacobiológicos. Se realiza investigación básica de frontera aplicada. Se desarrollan algoritmos híbridos que combinan diversas técnicas como lógica difusa, redes neuronales, algoritmos evolutivos y de comportamiento social. Los algoritmos desarrollados se prueban en sistemas basados en FPGAs, procesadores multinúcleo y GPUs.

Los laboratorios asociados a esta LGAC son:

Cómputo Inteligente de alto rendimiento. En el laboratorio se desarrolla ciencia y tecnología para la solución de problemas complejos utilizando cómputo inteligente, cómputo cuántico y programación de alto rendimiento que incluye multiprocesamiento y programación en GPUs. Actualmente se enfoca en la solución de problemas de salud tales como cáncer de mama y desarrollo de métodos inteligentes para imagenología. También se realiza investigación en el área de vehículos autónomos aplicándose las técnicas antes mencionadas.

Ciencia de Datos. Tiene como finalidad enriquecer la formación de los estudiantes de posgrado del CITEDI y de las carreras de Licenciatura de Ciencia de Datos y de Ingeniería en Inteligencia Artificial del IPN, de tal manera que su perfil de egreso les permita enfrentar con éxito los grandes desafíos que se presentan en la actualidad en las organizaciones basadas en el conocimiento y la industria 4.0.

Entre los dos laboratorios de investigación hay un total de 24 posiciones de trabajo. El equipo más notable con el que cuentan estos laboratorios es:

  • 14 computadoras equipadas con tarjetas GPUs, una de ellas con dos tarjetas Titan-X.
  • Un vehículo autónomo escala 1:10 donado por la Universidad Libre de Berlín para el proyecto institucional AutoNOMOS.
  • Un robot Turtlebot.
  • Un robot bípedo de arquitectura abierta.
  • Un robot hexápodo de arquitectura abierta.
  • Una máquina CNC.
  • Tarjetas FPGAs Virtex5, Spartan 3 y 6.
  • Un sistema de desarrollo Jetson TK1.

LGAC en tecnologías de imagen y telecomunicaciones modernas

Un grupo diverso de investigadores trabaja en las áreas de: sistemas avanzados de procesamiento de imágenes y reconocimiento de patrones, donde se desarrollan algoritmos y arquitecturas digitales de tipo FPGA y GPU para aplicaciones tales como mejoramiento de la visibilidad en tiempo real en la presencia de neblina, reconocimiento y seguimiento de objetos en el espacio 3D, reconocimiento de rostros y reconocimiento de emociones a través de la expresión facial; diseño y modelado de circuitos y sistemas para telecomunicaciones; tecnología de percepción remota en el espectro visible y VNIR para nanosatélites; reconocimiento de iris bajo condiciones ambientales no controladas y distancia media; e indización de contenidos multimedios para la preservación de la herencia cultural.

Infraestructura y equipamiento más importantes

Los laboratorios asociados a esta LGAC son:

Análisis multimedia y aprendizaje profundo. Desarrollo de métodos basados en Inteligencia Artificial y Redes Neuronales Convolucionales (Deep Learning) y desarrollo de proyectos en el área de TICs con impacto social.

Procesamiento de Imágenes. Permite la realización de experimentos científicos con fines académicos. Cuenta con equipo de cómputo, adquisición y proyección de imágenes, y construcción de prototipos de laboratorio.

Telecomunicaciones. Modelado de circuitos y sistemas de radiofrecuencia (RF), simulación de modelos de circuitos de RF, Diseño digital de circuitos y sistemas de RF.

Percepción Remota. El laboratorio desarrolla e integra tecnología e instrumentos para la adquisición de imágenes satelitales con nanosatélites. Estos instrumentos también pueden ser utilizados en aeronaves. El laboratorio fortalece las capacidades nacionales para el desarrollo de tecnología satelital y puede contribuir a la solución de problemas nacionales relacionados con el monitoreo de fenómenos naturales y del territorio y cuerpos de agua.
